National Law University Delhi Library implemented Remote Access of the databases subscribed by the University. The Remote Access Portal was inaugurated by Prof. (Dr.) Ranbir Singh, Vice Chancellor, NLU, Delhi in presence of Prof. (Dr.) G.S. Bajpai, Professor and Registrar, NLU, Delhi. The facility is beneficial for enrolled students and faculty members of the University to access enabling them to access IP based databases from any corner of the world.

National Law University, Delhi organized its first International Conference on Access to Legal Information & Research in Digital Age in association with SAARCLAW & Mohan Law House from 29th February to 02nd March 2012. The conference was inaugurated in the presence of ho’ble Mr. Justice D.K. Jain, Judge, Supreme Court of India and Visitor, NLU, Delhi, ho’ble Mr. Justice A.K. sikiri, Acting Chief Justice, Delhi High Court & Chancellor, NLU, Delhi, Prof. (Dr.) Ranbir Singh, Vice Chancellor, NLU, Delhi and Mr. Hemant Batra, Secretary General SAARCLAW.
The following recommendations were the outcomes during the deliberation of the technical sessions.
- The conference recommended that the global access to information is essential for socio economic development and for promoting the rule of law
- The conference recognized the Montreal Declaration and supported free access to law as a fundamental right for democratization of Information.
- The conference considered the urgent need for globally accepted copyright and IPR laws relating to database licensing issues
- The conference recommended the creation of networking among libraries and supported cooperation in sharing digital commons and promoting information exchange.
The conference was concluded in the presence of Chief Guest-Hon’ble Justice Tshering Wangchuk, Judge Supreme Court of Bhutan. Prizes for Best Paper in the catagories of Students and Faculty/Librarian along with best poster were awarded by the hon’ble Judge at the valedictory session.

National Law University Delhi inaugurated the launch of Legal Information Institute of India (LII of India) at Vigyan Bhawan on May 01, 2010. Prof. Graham Greenleaf, Profess of Law,Director, LII and Austad explained the working and content coverage of the Virtual databases facilitating free access to legal information.
Prior to the launch, a meeting of the heads of the member institutions were arranged at National Law University Delhi to finalize the launching of the web portal.

Justice T.P.S. Chawla Library of National Law University Delhi was inaugurated by Hon’ble Justice Mr. Deepak Mishra, the then Hon’ble Chief Justice of Delhi High Court on 14th August 2010. Hon’ble Justice Mr. A.K. Sikri, Judge Delhi High Court and Hon’ble Justice Ms. Geeta Mittal, Judge, Delhi High Court were also graced the event by presence.

National Law University Delhi Library under the aegis of Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) organized “Two Day Seminar on Changing Landscape of Scholarly Writings and Publications” during 24-25 March 2017. There were eight technical sessions having invited talk and panel discussion on emerging topics of publication landscape in academia.
Session 1 – Publishing Pattern in Academic World: Doctoral Thesis to Journal Articles
Session 2 – Mapping the Publishing Landscape
Session 3 – Publishing Ethics: A Fair Play Game
Session 4 – Discernment the Process of Peer Review: Resubmission, Revision to Rejection
Session 5 – Measuring Impact Factor and Citation Analysis: What and How
Session 6 – Effective Research Methods: Tools and Techniques
Session 7 – Challenges in the Growth of IR and Open Access Publishing
Session 8 – Contract, Royalties and Copyright in Digital Repositories
The seminar emphasized upon the process behind publication of scholarship for aspirant scholars. It is realized that nowadays methods of writings have been changed and it has created a lot of opportunities as well as threats. There is lack of training in our academic curriculum for developing writing and publication skills. The seminar was designed with these insights. It was inaugurated with welcome address of Prof. (Dr.) K.P.S. Mahalwar, Chair Professor in Professional Ethics, NLU Delhi on behalf of Prof. Ranbir Singh, V.C. NLU Delhi. After welcome remarks Dr. Priya Rai, Deputy Librarian introduced about the conference. Inaugural address was delivered by Prof. M.P. Singh, Former Vice Chancellor, NUJS Kolkata and Former Chairperson, Delhi Judicial Academy. Index to Indian and Foreign Legal Articles was inaugurated. Keynote Address was delivered by Mr. NJP Shilohu Rao, General Manager, National eGovernance Division, Digital India. At the end of inaugural session Dr. Akash Singh narrated the vote of thanks.
The valedictory session was graced with the presence of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. Ranbir Singh. Valedictory address was narrated by Dr. Manoj Kumar Patairiya, Director, NISCAIR-CSIR. Keynote address was delivered by Prof. Thomas J Stipanowich, William H. Webster Chair in Dispute Resolution and Professor of Law, Pepperdine University, Malibu, CA. Prof. Ranbir Singh raised very serious concern over the quality of writing and publication by students as well as faculty. He strongly advocated that awareness seminar of this kind should be conducted at regular intervals for the enhancement and promotion of legal research. Dr. Priya Rai briefed the recommendations of the seminar. Lastly, Prof. Bajpai emphasized that writing is a creative process and a powerful medium which can change the course of civilization and thanked everyone for being part of the seminar.

National Law University Delhi under the aegis of Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) organized a “Workshop on Plagiarism and Academic Integrity among Research Community” on 30th November 2015. The workshop emphasised over various issues relating to plagiarism and academic ethics. The term “plagiarism” knots ‘copying other work’ without assigning proper credentials to original author or contributors. The objectives of the conference was to provide outline on general facts on plagiarism, make awareness on consequences on plagiarism and to provide hands on session on plagiarism detection software. More than 50 research scholars participated in the workshop from various law departments. Prof. (Dr.) G.S. Bajpai, Professor of Law and Registrar under his inaugural address pointed out that plagiarism is primarily a moral and ethical issue among the research community. He further advocated the researching is an art and the researcher should maintain academic integrity with proper attributing the original source.
The workshop proceeded with number of lectures on Increasing Trends of Plagiarism in Scholarly Communication: Is It Ignorance or Mensrea by Dr. Priya Rai; Legal Consequences of Plagiarism by Dr. Arul George Scaria; Plagiarism and Ethical Practices: GGSIP University Initiatives with National Perspective by Dr. Anand P. Singh, Deputy Librarian form Gurugobind Singh Indraprastha University and A hands-on training session to understand the use of Anti- Plagiarism software by Ms. Chander Kala Chauhan, Trainer-Turnitin. The seminar concluded with concerns, issues and questions raised by participants on the dire problem of plagiarism that has plagued the academic institutions throughout the world.
