Centre for Criminology and Victimology
The National Law University Delhi has set up a centre – Centre for Criminology and Victimology (“CCV”) for advanced research training, policy analysis and consultancy in the broader fields of criminology and victimology. CCV aims to contribute towards the fundamental and applied research and action in the field of Criminology. and Victimology. Towards this end, the Centre promotes research, training, policy analysis and consultancy in the aforesaid fields. The Centre brings along pertinent interdisciplinary research and learning strategies to identify the lacunae in our criminal justice and victim justice systems while systematically addressing the same. The Centre also provides ready consultancy to various law enforcement and governmental agencies by offering research-based solutions to legal conundrums. Additionally, the Centre conducts training, research workshops and conferences especially in the areas of Criminal Justice, Victim Justice, and Victimology.
Objectives
The centre has the following key objectives:
- Of promoting research and action in the selected areas of criminology and victimology, including victim justice.
- To undertake specific research projects in the said areas.
- To propose training programmes for various functionaries of the criminal justice system, including the stakeholders in the field of juvenile justice.
- To analyse and critically examine the laws, policies, and programmes from the standpoint of victim protection, participation, justice and rehabilitation.
- To strive for providing a Victimological perspective in the legal education at graduate and undergraduate level.
- To organize initiatives in the form of victim advocacy, legal clinic and outreach programme for extending victims support services.
- To undertake publications and coordinate with various National and International agencies working in the broader areas of victimology and criminology.

Publications
Indian Journal of Criminology
Indian Journal of Criminology is a joint publication of the Indian Society of Criminology (“ISC”) and the Centre for Criminology and Victimology, National Law University Delhi. The journal is peer-reviewed Open access bi-annually (January and July) Journal. Indian Journal of Criminology began in 1973. It has been considered a reputable and prestigious journal in the field of criminology and criminal justice in the Indian context. The Indian Journal of Criminology meets all the requirements for academic excellence in criminology and is included in the UGC-CARE List Group I.
Indian Journal of Victimology and Victim Justice
Journal of Victimology and Victim Justice, a peer-reviewed journal focuses on both critical leadership and practical development representing victimological perspectives from a brod range of disciplines and contributes to a greater understanding of victims, victimization, victim- offender relations, institutional functioning and allied issues.
Proposed Projects
- Organising a workshop for drafting the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) minimum standards of rights, participation and services to the victims of crime.
- Setting up of a victim advocacy clinic in the National Law University Delhi.
