Visiting Professor
Sumeet Pushkarna holds extensive litigation experience of over 28 years at the Bar. He has represented the most prestigious governmental and statutory authorities as their nominated or Standing Counsel in the higher courts. Among others, he has been a Standing Counsel to statutory entities like the State Election Commission and for the Union of India, State Governments, etc. He has had extensive experience in appearing for various public utilities and Corporations in the core infrastructure sectors like Electricity, Water and Transport, before the High Court and the Supreme Court. He has also been the primary Standing Counsel and legal advisor for over a decade, to a very large Pension Trust Fund with over 20,000 member retirees and in that capacity has appeared before various courts, for its entire spectrum of litigation. He has formerly been a qualified Solicitor of England and Wales with practising rights for England and Wales. He has as a legal Counsel, represented a very major ship building yard of the world, which is based in Netherlands, in its arbitration proceedings in India. He has also represented a major television production house of the country, from the television entertainment sector, in its arbitration case with the largest government broadcaster. He has also contested Arbitration cases for other government and private clients. He has also been an advisor to many governmental and statutory bodies for its legal matters.
Sumeet has acquired his master’s degree in law with distinction, from the University of Strathclyde, United Kingdom, in the subject of Advocacy skills. The master’s course program was supervised by a very eminent global faculty. His research paper was on the subject of Advocacy skills of Barrister Mahatma Gandhi. He has also completed a number of short, professional advocacy and law related certificated programs, from the United Kingdom.
He has been a member of the fellowship program conducted by the Institute of Constitutional and Parliamentary studies at New Delhi. He has also authored many published articles on the importance and skills of advocacy. He has assisted the various higher courts as an Amicus or a Court Commissioner in important cases. One such prominent case being, the supervision of the plantation of over a lakh of trees over a period of 4 years, in the reserved and forest areas of Central Ridge and Southern ridge of Delhi. He has numerous reported judgments and extensive number of appearances in the High Court. He is also currently teaching part time as a visiting Professor in Practise, at the School of Law, at the Galgotia University, Greater Noida.
