Interview:

What made you choose to apply at NLUD ?

I was aware of National Law University Delhi’s reputation as a research oriented university which was one of the prime reasons that prompted me to apply. I was also familiar with the work conducted by NLUD’s Centre for Innovation, Intellectual Property and Competition (CIIPC) which further convinced me that working as an Academic Fellow at NLU Delhi would give me an exceptional opportunity to learn under the guidance of scholars while honing my research skills.

What made you choose research and teaching as a career?

My interest in research and legal writing took shape during my undergraduate course. As part of my curriculum, I got several opportunities to work on and publish research papers. My internship with CUTS Institute for Regulation and Competition, further enriched my understanding of the field of legal research. These experiences have led me to pursue research as a career where I would be able to disseminate my ideas to a larger audience.

What is your area of interest, and what excites you about it?

My primary area of interest is Competition Law and its intersection with other fields such as Intellectual Property Rights. Currently, my research broadly pertains to the applicability of Competition Law to Digital Economy which differs from the brick and mortar structure of markets. In the last few years, Competition Law regime has witnessed major developments especially in its application to digital markets. I believe there is a growing need to develop a robust legal mechanism in order to regulate such markets.

How do you see yourself contributing to NLUD as an Academic Fellow?

As an Academic Fellow, I look forward to contributing to the rich research ethos of the University. Through my teaching, I want to inculcate critical thinking in my students and encourage them to offer solutions to the pressing challenges affecting the legal fraternity.
